situation madness ***updated

Possible, but long-shot, adoption situation came in today. This, of course, after I prayed this morning "Lord, bring us a baby soon." Ha.

Pray. Pray that the money is right and the details are good and all of it won't make me crazy. Pray that if we are the right people, they will choose us.

Pray for me, that I won't lose my mind.

Send up those prayers, please.

Thanks.

Update (8pm) Well, it was over almost as quickly as it started. The situation fit us in so many ways, but ultimately was too much of a risk on the financial end. We would have had to put out almost $15,000 up front, to only be able to get $7400 back if the birth parents changed their minds. We just don't have that much money to put into the whole thing and possibly lose it. With our current agency, we pay when we take custody of the child after the revocation period, so nothing is lost. This was through a facilitator that I keep up with, and looked great until we read the fine print.

I am sad. Of course. It seemed like such excellent timing, especially in light of my prayer this morning.

We ate Chinese tonight and my fortune said "sometimes the solution comes from where you least expect it." Interesting.

So anyway, thanks for all the prayers you sent up on our behalf. If you don't mind to keep praying with me that a match we can afford will come soon, I'd appreciate it.

Love you!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Oh gosh, what a test you are being put through :( I will continue to pray for you.

Good news about the possible match, though! I hope this means another one is not far behind.

Wow... I'm sure there is a reason and I just can't think of it, but really? They get to keep 7600 and you possibly get no baby? Just doesn't seem right at all.... :(

So sorry to hear the outcome of this potential scenario. Can't wait for you to be able to get off this emotional roller coaster and onto the mommy ride.

Social Services are selling children for a price. I hope you do not get involved in that. Alot of people in the world are being put into forced adoptions. The parents have no choice and the courts take these children away. Think about when you get asked to adopt and ask them!. I know its heartbreaking not to be able to have a child, But think of the heartbreak a family maybe going thru. I know i would not want someones child that was loved and well cared for, That was just taken. Not trying to mean anything bad, But someone has to say it. Just make sure the child they offer is not from a family that got forced out of the child please.

Very sorry to hear of you plight and know how this journey towards parenthood can be a long and arduous one. However, like a previous post says, I am very concerned about the scandal of forced adoption too. Here in the UK, it's a very worrying trend and there are many young families who have had their new borns taken away for adoption for the flimsiest of reasons. I don't know the situation in the USA but I hope that it's not like that. I hope that there is a happy ending and you become parents to a child who is in need of a loving family :))

Hi there, from one blogger to another, your blog is very well written and very informative. There are times when a baby who really needs a home, such as a orphan or an unwanted birth, should absolutely find themselves with an adoptive parent like you. If only all adopted children were as wanted as the child you will no doubt adopt in the very near future...

I will pray for you and my prayer is the following:

I pray to the Lord above that Sissy will get to adopt her baby who needs a loving home, that the baby will always be told the truth about his adoption. And most importantly that the baby is a genuinely unwanted child and not the victim of forced adoption. Amen

I'm so sorry.

Um, just so we're clear, any adoption we've been presented is not forced. Please don't worry about that.

Listen to those fortune cookies. God speaks to me often through them. On a casual lunch date with Drew and another friend (WAY before we ever dated) I got a fortune that said, "The time is right for a friendly chat to lead to romance." I hung onto it, and months later, we were dating and I found it. A few months after that, I got another fortune that said, "Your fondest dream will come true within the year." Drew proposed on New Year's Eve.
I hope that something happens soon... but maybe from somewhere you're not expecting. Love you, sis.

Glad to hear that Sissy, it's a big problem in the UK. I have been reading your blog, and I know you will be a wonderful mother one day, Mark

Oh Sissy, so much to say about your post and so not the place. I really wish you and I could sit down and chat together. This waiting thing is something isn't it? Especially when situations present themselves only for us to turn them away. I want you to know how proud of you I am. I can't tell you how many times I've been shocked about a fortune cookie's truth in my life.

I pray for you daily and of course will continue to do so. Especially re. wisdom and understanding of the situations presented to you.
